Mary Luyster
Meet Mary Luyster:
Mary Luyster is a New York native dancer, choreographer, and interdisciplinary artist with versatile training spanning jazz, contemporary, musical theatre, modern, improvisation, choreography, and filmmaking. She graduated from Chapman University with a BFA in Dance Performance and a minor in Creative and Cultural Industries, and is an alumna of Kanyok Arts Initiative in NYC. Her performance experience spans New York, Los Angeles, Italy, and Berlin, including works by Riley Roberts, Peter Chu, Dwight Rhoden, Steven Sofia, Tyler Hanes, David Parsons, Jacob Jonas, Warren James Curtis, and more.
Mary has deepened her artistic development through intensive training at B12 Berlin Dance Festival, Orsolina28, Zeitgeist Dance Theatre, Diavolo LA, and TheSourceNYC, and has toured nationally as a ProReveler Assistant with Revel Dance Convention. Alongside performing, she creates original choreography and interdisciplinary film work, with her latest work recognized by the Charlotte International Dance Film Festival.
Based in the New York City/Long Island area, Mary is pursuing a career across concert dance, theater, commercial performance, and film while developing her voice as a choreographer and educator. Her teaching emphasizes style, technique, musicality, individuality, and thoughtful artistry, encouraging dancers to become versatile, confident performers and develop the creative perspective and adaptability needed to thrive in today’s evolving dance industry.
